A slow start to our day today. No train to catch plus the hot water needs time to heat up between showers. That gives us time to catch up on newspapers and other reading.
A stop at Starbucks (ahhh...) and we were off to The Prado for a bit of culture.
The weather is perfect, the walk, about a mile. We stopped along the way to listen to street musicians...an obsession of ours. A few yards from the museum we found a wonderful oil painting that is now in our possession. It will be hanging in our entryway as soon as Aaron Brothers can frame it. Beautiful....at least to us!
The Prado is a premiere museum of the world. Amazing works of art. And on this day, it did not seem overcrowded. The only canvas we could not get close to was the newly discovered copy of the Mona Lisa. We could see it from a distance but there was quite a crowd gathered around. Otherwise, the museum was remarkably easy to maneuver through. We spent a few hours wandering....until our eyes were too bleary to appreciate anymore.
Outside, we continued walking....this time to the Madrid Hard Rock. Another shirt to add to Bob's collection & a late lunch/early dinner. So nice to eat early & not at 8:30!
I felt like we walked for hours today. I was ready to stop & finish my book in peace & quiet tonight. Two books in the past week that I have read & highly recommend. 'Then Again' by Diane Keaton & 'Dispatches From The Edge' by Anderson Cooper.
Tuesday....Toledo.
Had your fill of Jesus art at the Prado? We loved it, but it was definitely a lot of Jesus art.
